Harold Osborne 1928-2026

BOARDMAN — Our father, Harold “Ossy” Osborne, teed off for the final round on Friday, March 6, 2026, at the age of 98.

He was born Jan. 15, 1928, at home on Mathews Road in Boardman, son of John and Edna Osborne.

He attended Boardman Schools until age 17, when he quit school and joined the Navy during World War II. After his discharge, he met and married Marie Stephenson, a union that lasted until her passing in 2022 after 75 years of marriage.

Ossy had many jobs throughout his life and was known as a tireless worker, providing for his family, often working a second job at night. He worked at Wester Brothers, Boardman Supply and Plaza Lumber for many years. He then moved to Servomation Corp., where he made many friends in area businesses, steel mills and hospitals servicing vending machines and worked until his “retirement.” He then worked for the Mahoning County Newspaper Agency for over 25 years and drove auction cars for JR’s Auto City in Canfield well into his 80s, and was the groundskeeper at his church, Simon Road Church of God.

He was a talented carpenter and built many projects for his family. His hobbies included raising rabbits in his younger years, for which he won numerous ribbons at the Canfield Fair. He was also a longtime member of the World War II Heritage Society. But his passion was golf. For over 25 years he had a season pass to Lakefront Golf Course in Columbiana with his golf buddies. He had two holes-in-one there. They golfed throughout much of the winter, where owner Butch Ross would plow a fairway and use a leaf blower for the greens. Every January, on or near his birthday, there was the annual excursion to Myrtle Beach for him and his gang of golfers.

He was loved and will be missed by his children who survive him, Russ (Fran) Osborne of Boardman, Kathy Osborne of Cuyahoga Falls and Cheryl Jadallah of Boardman; his former daughter-in-law, Kathy J. Osborne; seven grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife, Marie, in 2022; son, Roger, in 2024; his parents; and five sisters.

Our family would like to thank the amazing staff at Paisley House for the wonderful care and friendship for the 2 ½ years he lived there; the staff at Aventura at Assumption, where he spent the last few months of his life and was given such great care; Dr. Armand Minotti, who provided medical care for many years; and lastly, but by no means least, Becky Miller and Rosemary Battaglia, who provided care and friendship to Ossy.

Private services were held.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave., Boardman. Family and friends are encouraged to offer prayers for the family by visiting the Book of Memories at www.rossifunerals.com.
