Gregory J. Vargo 1962-2026

He was born Jan. 15, 1962, in Youngstown, a son of the late Stephen and Dora C. Raco Vargo.

Gregory attended the Mahoning County Workshop for several years. He loved music — both listening to records and singing along. He brought light to everyone with his smile.

He is survived by his brother, Jeffrey Vargo; sister, Stephanie (Thomas) Moran; nieces, Garbielle “Zenith” Vargo and Nina Ballone; nephews, Frank Ballone Jr. and Stephen Ballone; and his brother-in-law, Frank Ballone Sr.

Gregory was preceded in death by his parents and by his sister, Nancy Ballone.

Visitation will be held 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, March 12, 2026, at the Kirila Funeral Home, 258 Poland Ave., Struthers.

A funeral service will be held at 6 p.m., following visitation at the funeral home.

The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to all the caregivers, nurses and doctors who provided dedicated care to Gregory over the years.
