George J. Guarnieri 1948-2026
YOUNGSTOWN — George J. Guarnieri passed away peacefully Thursday, March 26, 2026, at the age of 78.
Born to Alfred and Amelia Cappuzzello Guarnieri on March 12, 1948, in Youngstown, George attended Sts. Cyril and Methodius Elementary School and Ursuline High School.
Upon graduation, George attended Youngstown State University until being drafted into the U.S. Army, where he faithfully served his country. During his time at Youngstown State University, he met his future wife, the former Patricia McCauley. Upon his return from service, George and Patricia wed and shared 50 wonderful years.
In 1972, they moved to Florida, eventually settling in Seminole, where they raised their two daughters.
George, with his brother, owned and operated a chain of formal wear stores for over 20 years. Upon his retirement, George and his wife returned to Ohio to be close to family. The couple’s love of entertaining family and friends led them to the restaurant business. Those who knew them shared many meals at their restaurant, the Belleria in Struthers. For over 20 years, George entertained his large extended family, friends from Ursuline, Youngstown State and his fraternity Alpha Phi Delta at the restaurant, and all who entered became friends.
George was known for his generosity and fun-loving nature. Family meetings were celebrations of time spent together. But his happiest time was when he became a grandfather to two wonderful grandsons.
George leaves to cherish his memory, his daughters, Dana Lantz (Michael Lambert) and Josa (Justin) Muir; his grandsons, Luke Lantz and Cole Muir; his brother, Angelo (Darlene) Guarnieri; his sisters, Catherine (Terry) Oaks and Theresa Malcomson; his brother-in-law, Paul (JoAnne) McCauley; sister-in-law, Joanne (Doug) Collier; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patty; his parents, Millie and Al; his sister-in-law, Marilynn Guarnieri; his brothers-in-law, Charles Malcomson and Daniel McCauley; and his nephew, Patrick Reagan; and several beloved cousins and friends.
George would wish that all that loved him say goodbye with a toast to all the fun that was had, and to remember that life is meant to be celebrated with family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the Ursuline High School Endowment Fund Inc., in care of Ursuline High School, 750 Wick Ave., Youngstown.
The family will receive family and friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at the McCauley Funeral Home, 230 Broadway, Youngstown, 44504.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 1, 2026, by the Very Rev. Msgr. Robert Siffrin; and please meet at St. Edward Church.
