Elva L. Gummo 1933-2026

PUNTA GORDA, Fla. — Elva L. Gummo, 92, formerly of Hubbard, passed away peacefully Monday, March 9, 2026.

Elva was born June 24, 1933, in Parkersburg, W.Va., a daughter of Delbert Isaac and Tencie Mae Dye Mitchell.

She worked for Lawson Milk Company from 1974 to 1981 and later was the owner/operator of One Stop Superette in Hubbard from 1983 to 2001.

Her husband, Clyde A. Gummo, whom she married Jan. 27, 1951, passed away April 10, 1994.

Elva will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by her son, Ronald L. Gummo of Punta Gorda, Florida.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde; her brothers, Carroll Mitchell, Jay Mitchell and Ira Mitchell; and her sisters, Norma Mitchell, Edna Mitchell and Violet Johnson.

Services will be 1 p.m.Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at Stewart-Kyle Funeral Home, with calling hours 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Elva will be laid to rest in Hubbard Union Cemetery.
