Dr. Robert Bernstein 1945-2026
SANTA FE, N.M. — Dr. Robert Morton Bernstein, 80, passed away Saturday, Feb. 21, 2026, following a cardiac event while heading out for a day of skiing in his beloved New Mexico mountains.
A dedicated healer, Rob was still practicing medicine at the Santo Domingo Pueblo Clinic at the time of his passing. Throughout his long career, he found immense joy in serving his patients and colleagues, always ready to offer help to anyone in need.
Rob lived with immense zest, traveling the world, hiking the Himalayas and studying Vedanta. He was a devoted husband to Kasha; a proud father to Molly and Nina; and an adored grandfather to four. He cherished his extended family, his “men’s group” and a lifetime of deep friendships.
To honor Rob, the family will hold a private celebration of life in the spring. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you share “Rob-isms,” photos or stories to be included in a legacy book (see below) or a donation to a local environmental organization.
