Dominic J. Albanese 1942-2026
GIRARD — Dominic J. Albanese, 83, passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at Hospice House in Poland.
Dominic was born March 27, 1942, in Pennsylvania, the son of Anthony and Alvena Costello Albanese.
Dominic was a graduate of Youngstown State University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree. He worked for Copperweld Steel for 28 years as a metallurgist before retiring.
Dominic was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Canfield. He was a member of the Civil Air Patrol while in high school and was a former member of the board for Fairhaven School. He was a huge, avid football fan for Youngstown State University and loved to bird-watch as a hobby. Dominic also was formerly in an archery club and had his pilot’s license, which he did for his own enjoyment.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Susan J. Hodgekiss Albanese, whom he married Oct. 22, 2000; his children, Mary (Alan) Leo of Austintown, Debra Ann Albanese of Denver, North Carolina, Anthony Albanese of Austintown, Dana Albanese of Denver, North Carolina, and Chrissy (Matthew) Saraceno of Denver, North Carolina; sisters, Stefanie Ross, Carol O’Neil and Carmel Yakell; brother, Joe Albanese; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Steve and Anthony “Junior” Albanese.
Visitation for Dominic will be noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 31, 2026, with a funeral service at 1 p.m., at Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard.
