Betty L. Polito 1933-2026
POLAND – Betty L. Polito, 92, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, March 26, 2026, with her loving family by her side.
She was born July 27, 1933, in Youngstown, the daughter of Alvin and Anna Maikranz Howe.
Betty was a 1951 graduate of The Rayen School.
She worked for General Fireproofing from 1951 to 1955 and then went on to work for H&R Block in the late 1960s and 1970s.
In her spare time, Betty enjoyed traveling with her husband, son and other relatives on trips across the country, taking them from Maine to California and Virginia to North Bay, Canada. She also enjoyed bus trips to New York City, Atlantic City and the Soaring Eagle Resort in Michigan.
Her husband, Paul Polito, whom she married July 16, 1955, passed away Jan. 23, 2019.
She leaves behind a son, Paul Jr. (Cathy) Polito, with whom she made her home; two grandsons, Ryan and Luke; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by three sisters, Laura, Thelma and Delores; four brothers, Alvin, Arthur, John and Robert; and her beloved dogs, whom she had throughout her life, Dusty, Ginger, Pepe, Barney, Lindy, Tiara, Tina, Jetta and Mindy.
Private services were held Monday, March 30.
The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Rubino and the staff at Poland Medical Center and her hospice nurses, Honey, Chrissy, Rebecca, Brenda, Deanna and Laura, for the kind and compassionate care shown to Betty.
Monetary contributions may be made in Betty’s name to Hospice of the Valley, 979 Tibbets Wick Road, Suite A, Girard, OH 44420.
Arrangements were entrusted to the professional care of the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave., Boardman.
