Anthony M. Sabatka 1985-2026
YOUNGSTOWN — Anthony Michael Sabatka, 40, has taken the Golden Road to Unlimited Devotion on Monday, March 2, 2026, and is now on the path to joyous liberation.
Anthony was born Oct. 4, 1985, to Frank and Sharon Spangel Sabatka.
A graduate of Ursuline High School, he was a goalie for the Ursuline Mooney Hockey Club. He also attended Youngstown State University.
Anthony’s passion was music. His knowledge of bands and musicians was extensive. He loved live music and frequently attended festivals and jam band shows; his favorites were Phish and the Grateful Dead. Anthony marshaled for the Mahoning Valley St. Patrick Parade for many years.
He worked in maintenance for AFSCME Local 2726 at the Youngstown Water Department.
He is survived by his mother, Sharon, and brother, Devon; along with cousins, Robbie, Geoffrey, Gregory, Patrick, Rory, Richard, Christopher, Nicola, Emma, Ashley and Brendan; fur babies, Leo and Oscar; and many friends and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his father, Frank; auntie, Joyce Kale-Pesta; uncle, Richard Spangel; aunt, Laura Johnson; and grandmother, Bessie Spangel.
The family has entrusted arrangements to Higgins Reardon Funeral Home Austintown Chapel, 4303 Mahoning Ave.
Calling hours will be 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 5, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, in memory of Anthony.
