Timothy W. Hanawalt 1948-2026
CORTLAND — Timothy W. Hanawalt, 77, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, Saturday evening, Feb. 14, 2026, at Hospice House in Poland.
Timothy was born on July 30, 1948, in Columbus, a son of the late Dr. Russell and Mary Alyce Hanawalt.
He was a graduate of Badger High School and continued his education at The Ohio State University. He retired from General Motors after many years of service.
He enjoyed reading, watching movies and listening to music — collecting music albums and especially going to live concerts. He loved riding his two Harleys, especially over the causeway of Mosquito Lake. Most of all, he loved being with his family. One of his greatest joys was attending his grandchildren’s sporting events.
His family was proud and supportive of his sobriety of over 20 years. He was the treasurer and one of the lead speakers of the Sunday morning AA meetings.
Timothy will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 40 years, Nancy Hanawalt, whom he married Feb. 14, 1986; daughters, Stacy (Todd) Price, Rhonda Phillips, Rachael (Scotty Emerson) Marino and Alicia (Steve) Waldron; grandchildren, Chad (Jennifer) Phillips, Brittni Marino, Angelo Marino, Sarah (Alec) Bartholomew and Alana Waldron; great-grandchildren, Isabella, Blake, Brielle and Brantley Phillips, and Colton and Dawson Bartholomew; brother, Dr. Martin (Jenna) Hanawalt; and nephews, Clark and Evan Hanawalt.
Family and friends may visit 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, 2026, at Baumgardner Funeral Service, 8569 Main St., Kinsman. Funeral services will follow at 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will take place in Kinsman Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to ASPCA, in Timothy’s memory.
