Susan Quinn Maiden 1950-2026

YOUNGSTOWN — Susan Quinn Maiden passed from this life on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2026, at the age of 75. She lived a full life but tragically at the end, suffered from Alzheimer’s dementia.

Susan was born Nov. 20,1950, to William Quinn and Marguret Laughlin Quinn. She grew up on the North Side of Youngstown and lived in the area all her life. She was a graduate of Ursuline High School. She received a degree in English and education from Youngstown State University. There, she was a member of the Delta Zeta sorority.

She was married to Dr. Phillip Glen Maiden on Aug. 18, 2002.

She retired from Youngstown City Schools, where she taught for 30 years. Her career was split between teaching special education at The Rayen School and a full curriculum at the Mahoning County Juvenile Justice Center.

Susan was a passionate scuba diver. She and her husband enjoyed many wonderful diving trips to the Cayman Islands and other Caribbean destinations.

She was a member of the Youngstown Country Club, where she enjoyed the golf course. She was one of the founders of the Women’s 9-Hole League. There she spent many afternoons at a card table with friends playing hand and foot and mahjong. As chairman of the social committee, she organized many parties that people fondly remember.

She was a gourmet cook and loved to entertain.

She will live in the memories of her husband and many friends.

Arrangements are entrusted to Augustine Funeral Home. She will be interred at a private ceremony at All Souls Cemetery in Cortland.

Susan loved animals. She took in several rescue cats over the years. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to a local animal rescue.
