Rose Ann Santore 1930-2026
YOUNGSTOWN — Rose A. Santore, 95, passed away peacefully at her home with family at her side on Sunday, Feb. 22, 2026.
“Rosie” was born Sept. 18, 1930, in Youngstown, the youngest child of Metro and Kathryn Terlecky Schemetti. Rose grew up on the family dairy farm in North Lima, helping with the cows, farm chores and riding her white horse “Dolly” through the orchards. She graduated from Springfield High School in 1949, where she participated in track, basketball and band.
Rose married the love of her life, her husband Victor D. Santore, on June 15, 1957, at St. Patrick Church in Youngstown. They were married for 49 years until his passing in 2006.
She worked at General Electric for 18 years. Rose had a love for fashion, the lottery and the slot machines. She enjoyed working in her flower garden and cooking for her family, especially during the holidays. She looked forward to the family beach vacations on the East Coast.
Rose was a devoted mother of three children, Sherry Santore, Marcia (Robert) Schiffauer and John Santore, all of Boardman. She was a proud grandmother to her two granddaughters, her buck-a-loos, Brittany (Jordan) Miller of Austintown and Courtney (George Michael) Passas of Boardman. She was a great-grandmother to Leonidas “Leo” Passas.
She was very proud of her children and grandchildren for graduating college. She was very involved in her grandchildren’s sports, modeling, dance and music events. She enjoyed watching Brittany as a cheerleader and the featured twirler in the Boardman High School marching band, and following Courtney’s basketball career as a Boardman Spartan and Michigan State Spartan.
She is survived by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and eight sisters and brothers, Kathryn (Joe) Corpa, Mary, Anna Mae, John, Michael, Nicholas, infant brother and infant sister Schemetti.
Calling hours will be 9 to 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 27, 2026, at Vaschak-Kirila Funeral Home on
Canfield Road in Cornersburg.
A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mary Magdalene Parish-St. Christine Church, 3165 S. Schenley Ave.
Vaschak-Kirila Funeral Home handled all of the arrangements for the family.
