Richard W. Durbin 1949-2026
LOWELLVILLE — Richard William Durbin passed away peacefully on Thursday, Feb. 12, 2026, with his children by his side.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Ralph and Florence Durbin.
Richard leaves behind a family who meant everything to him: his son, Richard Durbin, and his partner, Tess Spincic; his daughter, Christy Durbin; and his son, Josh Durbin, and wife, Christa Durbin. He was a proud and devoted grandfather to Cooper and Carson Jobe, and Mackenzie Durbin. He is also survived by his brothers, Ralph Durbin (wife, Janet) and David Durbin (wife, Michelle); his sisters, Deborah (husband, William) and Margaret; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Richard worked many dedicated years as a foreman at Thomas Strip Steel in Warren. He took pride in his work and the life he built through hard work and perseverance.
Above all, he was a devoted father and grandfather. He loved college basketball and was an avid supporter of his niece Rachel Durbin and his grandchildren, rarely missing a chance to watch them play sports. He had a passion for sports cars and enjoyed attending car shows in Lowellville, especially appreciating his Mazda Miata MX-5. He loved fishing, taking peaceful drives and spending time outdoors.
Richard had an incredible green thumb — you could often find him in his garden, where he shared his deep knowledge of plants and took pride in everything he grew. He also had a special fondness for Snoopy, which always brought a smile to those who knew him well.
He will be remembered for his quiet strength, his devotion to his family and the steady presence he was in the lives of those who loved him.
Calling hours will be 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 16, 2026, at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, 244 McGill St., Lowellville, OH 44436. A time of sharing memories will be held at 7 p.m.
