Matthew E. Hannon 1953-2026

He was born Nov. 19, 1953, in Youngstown, the son of the late William J. and Elizabeth Curtis Hannon, and was a lifelong area resident.

After graduating from Boardman High School in 1972, Matthew enlisted in the Ohio National Guard and the Army Reserve.

He was a cabinetmaker, retiring in 2018 from McRoyal Industries, and enjoyed collecting coins and model trains.

Matthew leaves to cherish his memory his wife, the former Penny S. Betts, whom he married June 19, 1976; daughters, Tricia Cessna (Robert Walp) of Liberty and Stacie Dunn of Boardman; son, John (Rue) Hannon of Hubbard; brother, Thomas Hannon of Wilmington, North Carolina; twin sisters, Debbie Strishock of Boardman and Beckie (Tom) Piersante of Canfield; beloved grandchildren, Isaiah Hannon, Cayden Dunn (Ethan Lineberry), Olivia Dunn (Jack Moran), and Ayla and Kaira Hannon; and great-grandchildren, Calvin Lineberry and Alanna Moran.

Matthew was preceded in death by his brothers, Bill, Dennis and PJ.

A celebration of Matthew’s life will be held at a later date.
