Mary Ann Mountford Comstock 1937-2026

Together again

BOARDMAN — Mary Ann Comstock passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2026, at Poland Village Assisted Living.

She was born Sept. 18, 1937, in Youngstown, the daughter of the late Thomas E. and Mary Wick Mountford.

Mary Ann graduated from Boardman High School in 1955.

She met the love of her life, Robert “Corky” Joseph Comstock, and they married on Nov. 10, 1956.

Sadly, he passed on Oct. 15, 2020, after celebrating 63 years together.

Mary Ann and Corky raised their family and worked at Home Savings and Loan Bank until moving to Florida.

She and her husband spent 25 years living in Pinellas County, Florida, where she worked for the juvenile court system.

Mary Ann was a member of the Dunedin Clown Association; she was a clown for over 20 years and her clown’s name was Pansy. She also was a member of Toastmasters.

Mary Ann will always be remembered by her children: daughter, Linda (Don) White, Diane Playforth; and son, Robert (Pam) Comstock Jr.; her grandchildren, Donald (Sammantha) White, Matthew (Lyndsey) White, Mandy Comstock, Erik White, Robert (Amanda) Comstock III, Katie Gaither, Elizabeth Hofus, Andrew (Sam) Comstock and Sarah (Jeff) Gilger; and her 15 great-grandchildren.

Her favorite saying was “I love you all.”

She also leaves her brother, George (Opal) Mountford of Holiday, Florida; sister, Patty (Tim) Jenyk of Muncie, Indiana; and brother-in-law, John Timko of Mineral Ridge.

Mary Ann always enjoyed being with family and especially her grandchildren.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas Mountford; her sister, Helen “Chicki” Timko; and her son-in-law, David H. Playforth.

Family and friends may call 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2026, at the Fox Funeral Home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, 2026, at St. Catherine of Siena Parish-St. Charles Church, 7345 Westview Drive, Boardman.

Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown.
