Marilyn A. Adsit 1932-2026
Together again
BOARDMAN — Marilyn A. Adsit passed away early Thursday morning, Feb. 12, 2026, at Briarfield Place in Boardman.
Marilyn was born Sept. 25, 1932, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late William Dunn and Lela Geis Dunn, and was a lifelong area resident. She graduated from South High School and from Youngstown State University, where she was crowned homecoming queen in 1951. Marilyn was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi sorority and St. Dominic Church.
She worked at her family’s business, Dunn Studebaker, until its closing and was also employed at several local jewelry stores as well as the former Peg Kish Dress Shop.
Marilyn lived an active and vibrant life. She loved taking daily walks of two to three miles through Mill Creek Park and was an inspiration to many. She was an accomplished tennis player who competed in local tournaments and also enjoyed golfing. She was a member of the Mill Creek Park Women’s Golf League and was one of the original members of the Boardman Swim Club.
An avid reader and animal lover, Marilyn especially looked forward to trips to the New England area and out west to Aspen. She faithfully followed Cleveland sports teams and particularly enjoyed cheering for the Cleveland Browns.
Her husband, James P. Adsit, whom she married Nov. 28, 1953, preceded her in death Oct. 17, 2017.
She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Robert Adsit and his wife, Patty, of Aurora; her daughter-in-law, Shelly Adsit of Boardman; and her grandson, Scott of Cleveland. She also leaves her sister-in-law, Bette Dunn of Columbus, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Marilyn was preceded in death by her son, James Adsit II; and her brother, James Dunn.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the entire staff at Briarfield Place in Boardman for their loving, compassionate and attentive care, and to Hospice of the Valley for their wonderful support.
There will be no services, in accordance with Marilyn’s wishes.
