Marietta Lamia 1928-2026
POLAND — Marietta Lamia, 97, passed away peacefully on Friday, Jan. 30, 2026.
Marietta was born Dec. 22, 1928, in Jasper County, Illinois, a daughter of the late Albert and Lydia Meny Miller.
Marietta spent many fulfilling years as a waitress, retiring from Don Poncho’s Mexican Restaurant. An avid golfer, she cherished moments spent on the course, achieving her one and only hole-in-one at Mill Creek Golf Course. Additionally, Marietta found joy in quilting, crocheting and sewing, creating beautiful pieces that will be treasured by her loved ones for generations. She also had a special touch for taking care of her garden and her houseplants.
Marietta is survived by her daughter, Janet (Wayne) Noday of Austintown and Pat (Regan) Lamia of Texas; grandchildren, Clint, Lee, Jeannette, Belinda, William, Lisa, Nina, Anthony, Nick, Dominic, Carrie and Nicholas; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Lamia, whom she married Nov. 4, 1957, and who passed away in 1997; daughters, Jill Stokley, Jeannie Ainsworth and Betty Noday; and a son, Joe Lamia.
Private services will be held at a later date.
Professional arrangements were handled by Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel.
