Margaret R. Ludt 1939-2026
LIBERTY — Margaret R. “Margie” Ludt, 86, formerly of Austintown, passed away early Friday morning, Feb. 6, 2026, at Shepherd of the Valley Skilled Nursing Center in Liberty.
“Margie,” as she was affectionately known, was born Sept. 11, 1939, in Youngstown, a daughter of Michael and Madeline Bonacker Ruberto.
She was a 1957 graduate of The Rayen School in Youngstown, and worked as a radiology / X-ray technician for the former Northside Hospital for more than 30 years, prior to retiring in 2001.
Margie married Christopher R. Ludt on Sept. 11, 1999. Together they shared 16 years of marriage and many happy memories. He preceded her in death Sept. 2, 2015.
She was a longtime member of St. Mary Roman Catholic Church in Mineral Ridge.
Margie had many hobbies including, baking, dancing, playing bocce, knitting and crocheting, and she loved taking trips to Disney World. She was also an avid bowler and a member of the Vienna Women’s Bowling League, the Youngstown Saxon Club and the Youngstown Optimist Club.
Her greatest joy was being with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she dearly loved. Margie was a kind, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Margie is survived by four children, Ken (Michele) Martz of Brunswick, Andrea Martz of Austintown, Julie (James) Green of Girard and Michelle (Brian) Benedict of Austintown. She also leaves behind three brothers, Stephen (Karen) Ruberto of Virginia, Carl (Michele) Ruberto of Girard and Carmen (Larry Chopp) Ruberto of Cleveland; seven grandchildren, Anthony (Rebecca), April (Aron), Jarod (Rachel), Cody, Gabrielle, Martin and Kayti (Jonathan); 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, Margie was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Michael Ruberto; and three sisters, her twin, Julia Ruberto, Stephanie Demarco and infant, Mary Katherine.
Friends may call 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, at the Lane Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel, 5797 Mahoning Ave., Austintown, with services to follow at 6 p.m. She will be laid to rest next to her husband and twin sister in Resurrection Cemetery in Austintown.
