NEW MIDDLETOWN — Leonard Abbattista, 81, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Feb. 21, 2026, at Hospice House in Poland.

Born May 11, 1944, in Molfetta, Italy, Leonard came to the United States at a young age and built a life defined by dedication, hard work and devotion to family.

A proud cement mason for 60 years, he was known as a hardworking and dependable man who took great pride in his trade. His strong work ethic and commitment to providing for his family were evident throughout his life.

Leonard was married for 58 years to his devoted and loving wife, Eva Muntean. Their enduring marriage was built on love, loyalty and unwavering support.

He was preceded in death by his father, Mario Abbattista; his mother, Giovanna Abbattista; his mother-in-law, Dora Muntean; and his brothers-in-law, Vito Minervini and Anthony Cook.

Leonard is survived by his beloved wife, Eva; his siblings, Tony (Nancy) Abbattista, Irene Minervini, Sylvia (Nick) LaRocca and Sabina Cook; his two children, Mario (Renee) Abbattista and Jenine (Dan) Stanton; and his three cherished grandchildren, Mario Abbattista Jr. (Emily Grossi), Maren Abbattista (Michael Nardone) and Jacob Stanton.

He enjoyed golfing, working outdoors and especially spending time in his yard. Above all, Leonard was a loving husband, father and grandfather who treasured time with his family. He will be remembered for his strength, dedication and the quiet love he showed through his actions every day.

In accordance with Leonard’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or services. His family will honor his memory privately.
