Kathleen A. King 1946-2026
AUSTINTOWN — Kathleen A. King, 79, passed away Monday, Feb. 2, 2026, at Hospice of the Valley Hospice House.
Kathleen was born Oct. 14, 1946, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Stephen Ivanik and Katherine Mlynar.
She was a 1964 graduate of Chaney High School and spent many of her younger years working as a cosmetologist.
Kathleen later graduated from Youngstown State University and went on to work as a software engineer for InterBold, where she was employed for many years, earned a patent related to her work and retired in 2004.
She was a resident of North Canton for 22 years before returning to the Youngstown area in 2018.
She enjoyed frequent trips to Mountaineer Casino with her nieces, Debra Huff and Christine Keeling, and especially loved playing Mississippi stud. She also participated in the 2007 World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. In addition, she loved sewing, reading, puzzles and solving logic problems, as well as family gatherings and spending time with her grandchildren.
Kathleen leaves her daughter, Kasey King (Donald Scott Jr.); three grandchildren, Kelsey King, Avery Scott and Kristopher King; and her daughter-in-law, Kimberly King.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Earl F. King, whom she married June 8, 1968; her son, Kristopher King; and her sister, Carol Sause.
Family and friends may call 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road, Youngstown, where a small service will follow at 2 p.m.
