Joseph V. Smith 1962-2026
SEFFNER, Fla. — Joseph V. Smith, 63, formerly of Youngstown, died Friday, Feb. 6, 2026, after courageously battling a lengthy illness.
Affectionately known as Smitty, he is the son of Patricia and Joseph Smith.
After graduating from Cardinal Mooney High School, he moved to Tampa, Florida, where he worked for more than 30 years at Anneco/McDean Co. as a master electrician and was promoted to superintendent, overseeing many large projects in and around Tampa. He retired in 2018.
Joseph had a knack for making instant friends because he had a great sense of humor and was always totally himself.
His favorite joys in life were deep sea fishing, playing poker with his friends and gambling at casinos, but most of all, watching NASCAR, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Notre Dame football with his family.
Joseph leaves behind the apple of his eye, his daughter, Brittany Smith (Geno Ravera); his girlfriend, Rosemary Sampson; and his pride and joy, his three grandchildren, Cloie and Joseph Lamoureux, and Iseah Mathis, all of Seffner; his mother, Patricia Smith of Poland; his sister, Stacey Wilson (Joe Meyers) of Boardman; and his nieces, Candice (Rick) Kridler of Boardman and Crystal Wilson of Cleveland.
Joseph was preceded in death by his father, Joseph D. Smith, who passed in August 2025.
There will be a celebration of life for the family at a later date.
