Jeanette Rowe 1933-2026

BOARDMAN — Jeanette Turner Rowe passed away from natural causes on Sunday, Feb. 1, 2026, at the age of 93.

Jeanette was born Jan. 5, 1933, in Youngstown, the daughter of Frank Turner and Agnes Connell Turner. She was their youngest child, along with her three older brothers, Donald Turner, Robert Turner and Sydney Turner.

Jeanette was deeply proud of her local roots. Growing up in Youngstown instilled in her a steady determination and a strong independent spirit. After graduating from East High School, she became secretary for the Youngstown City Schools, a job she found immensely rewarding and fulfilling.

Jeanette married William Rowe and together they built a life centered on family, loyalty and community. She was a devoted mother to her two daughters, the late Laura Rowe Voorhis, a teacher, and Stephanie (David Helms) Rowe, an entrepreneur and corporate executive.

In 1973, she began her 33-year career with the Boardman Local School District by accepting the role of secretary to the principal of Boardman High School and eventually progressing to secretary for the superintendent of the Boardman Local School District. For Jeanette, being a secretary felt more like a calling than a job, and she dearly loved the experience over her entire career.

Jeanette was always known for her good humor and sharp wit. After she retired, being stopped by a shout of “Hi! Mrs. Rowe!” across a parking lot or from the bleachers at a game, followed by hugs and funny stories, brought her so much happiness, knowing she had impacted so many young lives.

Jeanette was a fierce fan and joyful booster of Boardman athletics. She was especially devoted to Boardman girls’ basketball and was so proud in 1994 when she was named an honorary coach in recognition of her devotion and support for the team.

A private memorial service will be held to honor Jeanette’s life and memory. Her family is grateful for the love, support and kindness shared during this time, and they will carry Jeanette’s memory forward with deep affection and lasting gratitude.

Arrangements are being handled by Davis-Becker Funeral Home, 8536 Market St. in Boardman. Please visit www.beckerobits.com to share memories and condolences with Jeanette’s family.
