Dorothy J. Ruby 1936-2026
AUSTINTOWN — Dorothy J. Ruby, 89, formerly of Austintown, passed away Monday morning, Feb. 16, 2026, at Austinwoods Skilled Nursing Center.
She was born May 31, 1936, in Saxton, Pa., a daughter of the late James M. and Nora E. Leighty Bair.
Dorothy was a 1954 graduate of Saxton High School and she worked as a nursing aide for the former Camelot Nursing Center for 25 years, retiring in 1995.
She married the Rev. Charles Ruby on March 29, 1954. Together they shared 62 years of marriage and many happy memories. He preceded her in death May 2, 2016.
Dorothy was a member of Leavittsburg Church of the Nazarene.
She enjoyed painting, was a foster parent for more than 30 years and loved working with children.
She is survived by two children, Charles (Pam) Ruby of McDonald and the Rev. Carol (James) Myers of Leavittsburg; six grandchildren, Amanda (Jim) Marrie, Shannon (Neel) Patel, Melissa (Chris) Barriger, Crystal Myers, Charles Myers and David Myers; and nine great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband and parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by four brothers and six sisters.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 23, at Lane Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel, 5797 Mahoning Ave. Friends may call 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, at the funeral home.
She will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband in Green Haven Memorial Gardens in Canfield.
