Dawn L. Bailey 1947-2026
BODFISH, Calif. — Dawn Leslie Bailey, 78, passed away peacefully Friday, Feb. 6, 2026. Dawn was an area lifelong resident until recently. She had moved to Bodfish, California.
She was born Feb. 18, 1947, to Don and Evelyn Warner.
She was a proud South High Warrior, and fearless tomboy as a child.
After graduation, she joined the U.S. Marines and met her husband, the late Richard Herschel Bailey.
Dawn was the most loving and caring person. Exceptionally smart and passionate, she was interested in genealogy and was a published author. She loved music and passed that passion to her children. She was tough also; she could cook dinner or shingle the roof all by herself.
She worked over 30 years and retired from the Youngstown City Schools, positively impacting on the lives of so many. Always with a smile.
Dawn loved all her family deeply, and will be remembered for her kindness to all.
She is survived by her children: Thomas (Peggy) Bailey, Erica (Travis) Richmond (California); step-children whom she loved dearly, Timothy Bailey, Earla Jaramillo (Texas) and Dan Higginbotham (Boston, Massachusetts); and grandchildren, Kendall, Harmony and Zane.
