Christine T. Babik 1953-2026

Christine was born Oct. 9, 1953, in Youngstown, a daughter of John and Lucy Repec Wajszczuk.

She was a 1971 graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School and was a lifelong area resident.

Christine had worked as a hostess at Perkins Restaurant and provided child care over the years. She had also worked as a nursing aide.

She was of the Catholic faith and enjoyed visiting with family and friends, polka dancing and bus tours.

Her husband, Joseph Babik, whom she married Sept. 21, 1974, died Aug. 7, 2023.

Christine is survived by her brothers, Bruno Wajsczcuk of Boardman and John Wajsczcuk of Sebring. She also leaves several cousins locally and in Canada.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

A private Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2026, at St. Dominic Church in Youngstown.

Christine was laid to rest beside her husband in Poland Riverside Cemetery.
