Catherlin E. Mitchell 1937-2026
YOUNGSTOWN — Catherlin Mitchell, lovingly known as “Cat,” peacefully went to Heaven on Sunday, Feb. 22, 2026, with her family by her side.
Catherlin was born Oct. 24, 1937, in Piedmont, Alabama, to the union of Charlie and Linnie Bee Wright Green.
Catherlin dedicated her life to caring for others as a nursing assistant for many years at Little Forest, Windsor and Beeghly nursing homes.
Catherlin was a member of Antioch Missouri Baptist Church and a former member of the Eastern Star. Blessed with an “Angelic” voice, her signature song was “Amazing Grace.”
Catherlin loved spending time with her family. Catherlin also loved gardening, flowers, cooking and going to the casino.
Catherlin is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Esther and Phillip Tharpe; grandson, Phillip Tharpe Jr.; her sister and brother-in-law, Jeanine and Duane Watson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Catherlin was preceded in death by her parents; three siblings, Charles Green, Christine Donaldson and James Bishop; and a grandson, Benjamin C. Tharpe.
Homegoing services will be Friday, Feb. 27, 2026, at J.E. Washington Funeral Home in Youngstown. Calling hours will start at noon and a celebration of life service will start at 1 p.m.
