Carol J. Ricker 1951-2026

AUSTINTOWN – Carol J. Ricker, 74, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Feb. 1, 2026.

Carol was born Dec. 26, 1951, the daughter of the late George and Helen Valinsky McKay.

She was a proud graduate of Wilson High School.

On Oct. 12, 1974, Carol married the love of her life, Robert Bruce Ricker, and together they shared 52 years of marriage, building a life centered on family, service and community.

Carol was known for her caring heart and strong sense of involvement. She worked as a florist and later as a church secretary — roles that reflected her creativity, kindness and dedication to helping others.

She loved traveling the country with her family, gardening, and making homemade wine and brandy. She was a founding member of the Austintown Senior Center and spent much of her time there. Carol was deeply committed to her community, serving in the Austintown Schools PTA and acting as an advisor for Camp Fire and the Mahoning County Junior Fair Board. She was always giving her time and energy to support local seniors, families and youth.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Robert Bruce Ricker; her children, Jessica Ricker and Greg (Barb) Ricker; her sister, Gloria Lilley; and extended family and friends who will miss her deeply.

In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her brother, Edward McKay.

A celebration of life will be held at the Austintown Senior Center at a later date. The family will share details when arrangements are finalized.
