Barbara D. Jones 1957-2026

NORTH LIMA — Mary Martha Yurco, 93, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, Feb. 11, 2026.

She was born Jan. 14, 1933, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Louis and Anna Klein Sobinovsky. Mary attended St. Matthias School grade school. She also attended Woodrow Wilson High School, graduating in 1951.

Mary enjoyed traveling with her husband, Michael. She won many ribbons at the Canfield Fair for her quilts. Mary enjoyed cooking and appeared on the Casey Malone Show making crepes stuffed with mashed potatoes, and she was “Cook of the Week” in the Youngstown Vindicator. She was also known for her homemade jelly.

Shw was a lifelong parishioner of St. Mary Magdelene Parish-St. Matthias Church. Mary was also a member of the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association (FCSLA) and Quilters Club, and a former leader of Girl Scout troops. Mary had a talent for quilting, crocheting afghans and sewing travel pillows. She was known to have a great sense of humor. Mary highly enjoyed giving out $2 bills to people she thought were kind.

She is survived by children, Nancy (Clem) Clausen of Austintown, Michael ‘Mickey’ (Joanne) Yurco Jr. of Canfield, Ken (Laura) Yurco of New Middletown; grandchildren, Gina, Ryan, Amy, Mikey, Jonathan, Melissa, Sarah, Lyanne and Issac; great-grandchildren, Jackson, Jillian, Rose, Charlotte, Aubrey, Megumi, Robbie, Elise, Rex, Niko, Asher, Gideon, Moira and Cherry Grace; and extended family, dear nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael A. Yurco Sr., whom she married in 1951 and who passed away Dec. 9, 2004; an infant son, Robert Yurco; brothers, Aloysius “Al” (Mary), Joseph (Violet), Andrew (Marie), Louis “Lou” (Helen) and John (Dorothy) Sobinovsky; sister, Virginia (James) Christopher; and three triplets in infancy – Cecilia, Anna and Pauline.

Friends may call 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 16, 2026, at Kubina Yuhasz Funeral Home, 5925 Market St., Boardman.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17, at St. Mary Magdalene Parish-St. Matthias Church, 915 Cornell St., Youngstown, celebrated by the Rev. John Jerek.

She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Calvary Cemetery.
