Victor A. Grdina 1933-2026
POLAND — Victor A. Grdina, 92, died Monday, Jan. 26, 2026, at Hampton Woods.
Victor was born Sept. 6, 1933, in Cleveland, to Jerome and Mamie Virant Grdina.
He graduated from Cathedral Latin High School in Cleveland and enlisted into the Army.
He married the former Anita Hunt on June 20, 1953. Victor and Anita were married 72 years.
He worked at Ohio Bell / AT&T as a manager of mobile radio units until he retired.
Victor’s passion was his family and sports. He was a Hall of Fame football player in high school and shared his passion by coaching his children and grandchildren in football, basketball, baseball and soccer with great success. He loved the Cleveland Browns and threw great Super Bowl parties for friends and family.
Since his retirement, he did woodworking and was a handyman to friends and family who required his skill. He also enjoyed making photo books of special occasions for his family. He was a “Great, Gentle Man” and gave generously of his time and talent.
Victor leaves his wife, Anita; three sons, Robert (Terry) Grdina of Lakewood, Victor (Linda) Grdina Jr. of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Scott (Kae) Grdina of Poland; two daughters, Lauren Grimes of Bessemer, Pa., and Elaine Wanat of Poland; 15 grandchildren, Seth, Edward (Lindsey), Katherine, Jamie, Jessica, Josie (Andrew), Victoria, Anthony, Victor (Bailey), Dominic, Frank, Paul (Candace), Sylvia, Emily (Jonathan) and Ian (Molly); and nine great-grandchildren, Emelyn, Alyssa, AV, Marek, Sloan, Julia, Oliver, Madeline and Lillian.
Victor was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Jerome; and three sisters, Marie, Gertrude and Joyce.
A prayer service will be held at noon Friday, Jan. 30, 2026, at Clemente Funeral Home, 10170 Main St., New Middletown, OH 44442.
