Thomas E. Cheslik 1957-2026
CANFIELD — Thomas E. Cheslik, 68, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2026.
Born April 7, 1957, in Youngstown, he is a son of the late Joseph J. and Patricia L. Dempsis Cheslik.
He grew up in Struthers and later moved to Canfield. He attended Struthers, Cardinal Mooney and Canfield high schools, ultimately graduating from Canfield in 1975. After gaining early experience in his family’s Midas business, he pursued higher education at Youngstown State University, earning a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. He later built a successful career as an engineer with Delphi, Goodyear, Valorec and Pennex.
Tom had an incredible passion for life and adventure. He played golf for YSU and embraced the thrill of racing motocross as a young man. In addition to excelling as an athlete, he loved the beach and being on the water. He could fix just about any problem and was always willing to help others.
Tom was truly a special person and his greatest joy and pride in life was his family. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He took immense joy in coaching and teaching his three sons. “Papa T” loved being with his grandchildren and was the rock of the family. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
Tom is survived by his wife, Julie A. Jandrokovic Cheslik, whom he married June 25, 1988; his sons, Dr. Thomas (Christie) Cheslik of Canton, Timothy (Kayla) Cheslik of Lakewood and Ryan Cheslik of Canfield; his grandchildren, Mia, Cecilia, Isabel, Lena and two more on the way; his brothers, Joseph (Brant Trowbridge) Cheslik of Columbus, Kenneth (Jane) Cheslik of Northville, Michigan, and Jeffrey (Tatyana) Cheslik of Atlanta, Georgia; his sister, Linda Jones of Canfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Tom was also preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Rich Jones.
A time to celebrate Tom will take place at Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel, 3701 Starr’s Centre Drive. Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 19, 2026, and 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2026, at the funeral home. His funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. Tuesday.
Entombment will take place in Green Haven Memorial Gardens.
