Stepheny Pisciuneri 1942-2026

YOUNGSTOWN — Stepheny Pisciuneri (nee George), 83, passed away Thursday, Jan. 15, 2026, after a long battle with cancer.

She is survived by her husband, James “Jim” Pisciuneri; her brother, Dennis (Denny) George; her son, Craig Lingenfelter; her grandchildren, Amy Lingenfelter, and Leah, Lucas (Emily) and Stephen Daprile; and her great-grandson, Leo Giovanni Daprile (mother, Julia).

She was predeceased by her daughter, Robin Daprile (Leo), and her sister, Gloria George.

Born in 1942 to parents Steve and Marion George on the South Side of Youngstown, Stepheny briefly moved to Oakland, California before returning home.

Stepheny lived a full and beautiful life, choosing joy and showering her loved ones with affection. A doting grandmother, she never missed a sporting event nor an opportunity to spoil her grandkids with sweets, toys and homemade roast beef. The playful banter she exchanged with her husband Jim livened holidays with laughs and inside jokes about bundt pans.

For fun, she enjoyed reading Stephen King books, dancing, cuddling her dog Vinny, and beating her family at the pool.

Her exquisite choice in shoes, honed while working at Dillard’s in the Southern Park Mall, ensured she arrived at every occasion fashionably, and if she was late, it was probably because she was picking up scratch-off tickets.

Stepheny was the strongest woman we knew, a woman born out of her time. She welcomed everyone into her home with open arms. She wasn’t just our Mema; she was everyone’s Mema.

The family would like to thank Stepheny’s neighbors Tom and Andrea, who brought her to countless doctor appointments and loved her as if she were their own family. They would also like to thank the caregiving team, led by Nicole VanHorn and Angie Shelton.

Calling hours will be 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2026, at Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, where a prayer service will follow at noon.

Burial will take place in Resurrection Cemetery.
