Roger J. Palko 1945-2026

AUSTINTOWN — Roger J. Palko, 80, passed away Thursday, Jan. 8, 2026.

Roger was born July 16, 1945, in Youngstown, a son of Julius and Mary Yeager Palko. He was a proud graduate of Chaney High School, Class of 1964, where he played football and later served as the school’s football team equipment manager.

Roger was the owner and operator of Palko’s Millcreek Service, a business through which he became well known and respected on the West Side of Youngstown for his dedication, skill, and work ethic as a mechanic. His reputation and friendships built through the business lasted a lifetime.

An avid Harley-Davidson biker, Roger loved the freedom of the open road and took many cross-country motorcycle trips with friends. He also enjoyed fishing on Lake Erie, boating at Put-in-Bay, Lake Milton and Lake Erie, and working on cars — especially painting and body work, which he took great pride in. Roger was a devoted sports fan who loved The Ohio State Buckeyes, listened faithfully to every Cleveland Guardians game and cheered on the Cleveland Browns.

Known throughout Austintown for having the greenest and most meticulously maintained lawn, Roger took great pride in everything he did. Above all, he cherished his family and valued time spent with them. His dog Bailey, his constant companion, held a very special place in his heart.

Roger was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patricia Kalenits Palko, whom he married July 12, 1966; his parents; and his sister, Julaine Palko.

He is survived by his loving daughters who cared for him at his home, Kimberly Ann Meraglio (Anthony) and Pamela Anne Revella (Drew); his sister, Gail Shaner of Arizona; his brother, Tom Palko; and many friends who will miss him dearly.

Roger will be remembered for his strong work ethic, loyalty, passion for life and the love he shared with family and friends.
