Richard W. Huziak 1948-2026

STREETSBORO — Richard W. Huziak, 77, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2026, at Hospice of the Western Reserve, Medina.

Born July 1, 1948, he was the son of Wallace Huziak and the former Alice Stein. Richard graduated from Boardman High School in 1966 and later from ETI Technical School. He was the owner of North American Restaurant Hoods, where he built a reputation for hard work, dedication and an unwavering commitment to doing what was right for his customers.

A passionate fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Richard attended every home game for as long as he was able. He also had a deep appreciation for classic cars and treasured time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. Richard never knew a stranger — he loved talking with people, sharing advice freely and exploring new places. His family often referred to him as a “human MapQuest” for his remarkable sense of direction.

Richard always put his family first. He never missed a track meet, concert or the chance to help a neighbor. A consummate family man, he would do anything for those he loved.

Richard is survived by his wife, the former Sandra Dreiling, whom he married Dec. 5, 1970; his children, Tracy (Matthew) Huziak-Clark of Perrysburg, Theodore (Susan) Huziak of Hudson and JoAnn Huziak (Mark Dingeman) of Raleigh, North Carolina; his sister, Nedra Bacha; his brother, Wallace (Lillian) Huziak; and his six grandchildren, Jackson and Ryan Clark, and Nicholas, Madeline, Liliana and Liam Huziak.

In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his son, Michael Huziak.

Calling hours will be 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 26, 2026, at Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel, 3701 Starrs Centre Drive, followed by a funeral service at 5:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Richard’s memory to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 5075 Windfall Road, Medina, OH 44256.
