Richard L. Seaman Jr. 1950-2026
BERLIN CENTER — Richard Lawrence Seaman Jr., 75, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Jan. 25, 2026, surrounded by his loving family, at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital.
Richard was born to Richard Lawrence Seaman Sr. and Edna Louise Wehr Seaman, both who preceded him in death. He was a proud graduate of Canfield High School, Class of 1968.
Shortly after graduating, Richard honorably served his country in the United States Air Force from 1968 to 1972, stationed in Del Rio, Texas. Following his military service, he dedicated 38 years of employment to General Motors in Lordstown, where his strong work ethic and reliability were well known. In addition to his professional career, Richard was a sixth-generation carpenter, a trade that reflected his deep-rooted family heritage, craftsmanship and ability to build with his hands.
Outside of work, Richard had a deep appreciation for the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping and was an active member of the Eastern Ohio Conservation Club (EOCC), where he also served as president. His love for nature, conservation and time spent outdoors with family and friends was a defining part of his life.
Richard is survived by his loving wife, Charlotte Seaman, and his five children, Tara Reed (John Reed), Carey Rose-Seaman, Richard Seaman III, Josh Miles (Katie Miles) and Chelsea Leigh (Nick Leigh). He was a proud grandfather to Christopher Rose, Emily Reed, Caitlin Thompson (Travis Thompson), Andrew Seaman, Daniel Seaman and Charlotte Leigh. He is also survived by his sisters, Linda Astorino (Phil Astorino) and Debbi Seaman.
The family will receive guests at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, 2026, at Ellsworth Presbyterian Church, 11171 W. Akron Canfield Road, Ellsworth, OH 44416, with a memorial service to follow.
Richard will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his honorable service to his country, his hardworking nature and his lifelong love of the outdoors. His legacy will continue to live on through the many lives he touched and the family he cherished.
