Peter Hucul 1950-2026

YOUNGSTOWN — Peter Hucul, 75, of Youngstown’s west side, passed away unexpectedly, Thursday, Jan. 15, 2026, at his home. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Pete was born Oct. 5, 1950, in Austria, the son of the late Ilko and Eva Kupczak Hucul, and came to the United States and Youngstown area as a child.

He was a 1968 graduate of Chaney High School, and worked at General Motors Lordstown for 30 years before retiring.

Pete was a faithful member of Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

He enjoyed golfing and bowling and was a longtime member of The Vindicator bowling leagues. Pete also enjoyed working with personal computers and was always interested in learning new technology. Known for his warm personality, Pete loved sharing a good joke and telling interesting stories, always enjoying time spent with others.

Pete leaves to forever cherish his memory his two sisters, Gertrude (Frank) Senediak of Austintown and Mary Gahagan of Napoleon, Ohio; his brother, Paul (Irene) Hucul of Greenville, South Carolina; three nephews; one niece; and many dear friends.

Family and friends may call from noon to 1 p.m. Monday, Jan 26, 2026, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road, Youngstown, where a funeral service will be held at 1 p.m.

Interment will follow at Sts. Peter and Paul Parish Cemetery.
