Nancy A. West 1931-2026

HUBBARD — Nancy A. West, 94, formerly of North Jackson, passed away early Monday evening, Jan. 26, 2026, at the Elmwood Senior Care Assisted Living Facility in Hubbard.

She was born Nov. 13, 1931, in Johnstown, Pa., a daughter of the late Samuel and Lucille Eichler Lawhead.

Nancy was a 1949 graduate of Pleasantville High School in Pennsylvania, and she spent most of her adult life as a homemaker, raising and caring for her family.

She married Darriel West on June 12, 1979. Together they shared nearly 41 years of marriage and many happy memories; he preceded her in death on May 12, 2020.

Nancy was very active, well into her late 80s. She was an avid gardener and loved and cared for many animals throughout her life. She also enjoyed collecting carnival glass. Her greatest joy was her devotion to her family, especially her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a loving, nurturing Mom, “Gram,” and “GG,” and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by five children, Gary (Sharon) Mock of Canfield, Linda Lutz of Winter Garden, Florida, Debra (Jesse) Hodge of North Jackson, David (Diana) Mock of Austintown and Lisa (James) Caputo of Largo, Florida. She also leaves behind three stepchildren, Everett (Cheryl) West of East Palestine, Terry (Jeff) Klimko of Georgia and Mary (Erman) Algaier of Columbiana; 13 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband and parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her first husband and father of her children, Eugene Mock; a daughter, Catherine Montesano-Rosenberg; four brothers, the Rev. Dr. Alvin, Chuck, Jim and Jack Lawhead; two sisters, Lois Barefoot and infant, Janet; and two sons-in-law, Donald Lutz and John Rosenberg.

Private funeral services will take place.

She will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband in the Green Haven Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Canfield.

Nancy’s family would like to extend heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the staff of Elmwood Assisted Living Center in Hubbard and AKESO Hospice for all of the kind and compassionate care they gave to her.
