Monica F. Johnston 1956-2026

Monica was born Sept. 17, 1956, in Youngstown, a daughter of Rudolph and Betty Pavliga Schlosser.

She was a 1974 graduate of Campbell High School and a graduate of St. Elizabeth School of Nursing.

Monica was a registered nurse for 42 years at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital, retiring in 2019.

She enjoyed gardening; birds; her collie dogs, Phoebe and Winston; and her cat, Poppy.

She was a member of the Coitsville Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and Twin State Auto Racing Club.

Monica will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by her family: her husband, Kenneth W. Johnston, whom she married Oct. 13, 1979; her daughters, Jacqueline Johnston of McDonald and Jessica (Andrew) Fisher of Dublin; four grandchildren, Kenny, Logan, Allyson and Lilly; and her mother, Betty Schlosser of Liberty Township. She also leaves her sister, Becki (Dan) Messersmith of Hartford, and brother, Rudy Michael (Diane) Schlosser of Warren.

Beside her father, she was preceded in death by her sister, Lisa Reece, and brother, Thomas Schlosser.

There will be services 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, 2026, with calling hours 9:30 to 11 a.m., at Stewart-Kyle Funeral Home.

She will be laid to rest in St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Campbell.
