Marjorie R. Pittman 1933-2026
Together again
LAKE MILTON — Marjorie Ruth Pittman, 92, passed away Thursday afternoon, Jan. 8, 2026, at her residence.
“Marge,” as she was affectionately known, was born May 28, 1933, in Clarion, Pa., a daughter of the late Willis E. and Sarah A. Cyphert Geist.
She was a 1951 graduate of Newton Falls High School. She had worked most recently in the produce department for the Nemenz IGA in Craig Beach prior to retiring in 1996.
Marge married John A. Pittman on Aug. 10, 1951. Together they shared 62 years of marriage and many happy memories. He preceded her in death on Feb. 5, 2014.
She was a member of Mount Moriah Lutheran Church in Berlin Center. She was also a member of the Pythian Sisters 313 of North Jackson and the National Wildlife Federation. She was a longtime active member of American Legion Auxiliary 737 of Lake Milton.
Marge enjoyed many activities with the legion, especially helping with their fish fry dinners. She also enjoyed reading, crocheting and birdwatching. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Marge is survived by her three sons, John A. (Connie) Pittman Jr. of Newton Falls, James W. (Bonnie) Pittman Sr. of North Jackson and Jerry T. Pittman of Berlin Center. She also leaves behind a sister, Freda DeMarco of Champion; a daughter-in-law, Pam Pittman; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, Jack, and her parents, Marge was preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey E. Pittman; two brothers, Glenn and John Geist; two sisters, Mary Shoup and Patricia Gillium; and two daughters-in-law, Fonda and Marie Pittman.
Funeral services were provided by the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel, 5797 Mahoning Ave.
She was laid to rest next to her beloved husband in Eckis Cemetery, Milton Township.
