Marie Giannini 1936-2026
POLAND — It is with profound sadness that the family of MaryAnn “Marie” Pitzulo Giannini, 89, announces she went to be with the Lord on Friday, Jan. 2, 2026.
Marie was born March 27, 1936, the daughter of Frank and Rose Alfano Pitzulo in Lowellville. She was a 1954 graduate of Lowellville High School.
Marie worked at several local grocery stores, with the last being Country Fair, before her retirement in 2019. Marie was a proud member of the Mount Carmel Society Women’s Auxiliary and several card clubs, especially her Saturday afternoon club with Linda and Helen. She volunteered at Mercy Health St. Elizabeth Hospital and Powers Auditorium.
Marie enjoyed winters at Myrtle Beach and going to see her son and grandsons in local bands in the Youngstown area until this past summer. She was a longtime Yankees fan, who loved cheering on her team.
Marie is survived by three sons, John (Karen) Speziale of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Frank (Michele) Speziale of Struthers and Carmen (Chrissy) Speziale of Mineral Ridge, and brother, Joseph (Victoria) Pitzulo of Massillon. She was the proud grandmother of five grandchildren, five great- grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Waiting to greet her in Heaven are her husband, Carmen Giannini; her parents; and a sister, Kathleen Pitzulo Gerberry.
Calling hours will be 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2026, at the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave., Boardman, followed by an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anthony Church in Youngstown.
