Marcia L. Braden 1946-2026

YOUNGSTOWN — Marcia Lee Braden, 79, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Jan. 15, 2026, at Aventura at Assumption Village in North Lima, surrounded by her loving family.

Marcia was born on July 13, 1946, in Salem, a daughter of the late James H. and Betty J. Spooner Braden.

She was a graduate of East Palestine High School and moved to the Mahoning Valley in 1978, where she made her home and raised her family.

Marcia was a devoted homemaker, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she loved deeply.

Although Marica was small in stature, she had a mighty and fierce personality. She also was a neighborhood mother to all and would open her home to anybody in need.

In addition to caring for her own family, Marcia was a compassionate caregiver to others. She worked in several local nursing homes and provided home health care for more than 14 years, touching many lives with her kindness and dedication.

Besides her parents, Marcia was preceded in death by her daughter, Marabeth Gump; and four grandchildren, Amanda, Corinne, Kaden and Gracelyn; and her beloved four-legged companion, Beast.

Marcia is survived by her six children, LeeAnn (Chris) Reda of Struthers, Christine (Anthony) Ward of Poland, Rebecca Gump of Cocoa, Florida, Lisabeth (Jimmy) Getsy of Lowellville, Aaron (Jessica) Gump of Struthers and Ethan (Lisa) Gump of Youngstown. She is also survived by 30 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.

Friends and family will be received from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 19, 2026, at Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, 270 N. Main St., Poland. A time of sharing memories will take place at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
