Louis P. George 1948-2026
STRUTHERS — Louis P. “Butch” George, 77, passed away Saturday, Jan. 17, 2026, at his residence surrounded by his family.
Butch was born April 12, 1948, in Struthers, son of the late Louis P. Sr. and Laura Quattro George. He was a 1966 graduate of Struthers High School and a former member of St. Nicholas Church. Butch worked for General Motors for 33 years, working in various departments. After retirement, he worked at the Meander Golf Course, where he loved cutting the grass. Other than his family, whom he loved the most, Butch loved playing bocce. He was an awesome player and won countless league championships and tournaments. He was involved in many bocce leagues throughout Mahoning, Trumbull and Ashtabula counties, and into Pennsylvania. He was a lifelong member at St. Anthony’s Club in Struthers, Mount Carmel Club in Lowellville, and he belonged to various ITAM and SOI Clubs. He loved hunting, fishing and boating, and was a lifetime member of the Mahoning Sportsman Club. He coached softball for his daughters in the Struthers softball league for many years. He also enjoyed gardening, playing pool, the Cleveland Browns and the New York Yankees. He enjoyed many things but was most happy with his kids and grandkids. He will be sadly missed by those who knew him.
Butch is survived by his children, Kim Savich (George), Julie George and Steve Ruozzo; his stepchildren, Debbie Stellato and Darlene Arnett; his brothers, Richard George and Thomas (Darlene) George; his sister, Joyce (David) Donatelli; nine grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, his former wife, Roxanne George, died in 2021.
Memorial services will be 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, 2026, at the Kirila Funeral Home Inc., 258 Poland Ave., Struthers.
Visitation will be 4 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
