Keith A. Gaines 1962-2026

The son of Henderson Gaines and Louise Lawton, Keith was born April 18, 1962, in Youngstown.

Keith attended East Side High School, receiving his GED in 1996.

He was employed by North Star Steel and Community Metal Forming as a machinist, retiring after 20-plus years.

Keith was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church.

He enjoyed watching movies, outdoor activities and basketball.

On April 20, 2001, he was united in marriage to Cynthia Coney Gaines.

Memories of Keith Allen will be cherished by his wife, Cynthia Gaines; stepson, Kyle (Shirley) Coney of Youngstown; stepdaughters, Kelli (Chris) Lawler of Cleveland and Kendra M. Coney of Sharon, Pa.; sisters, Maretta (John) Golphine, Juelene Gaines Sanders and Ann Lois Gaines, all of Pittsburgh, Pa.; Clara Gaines Olds and Yvonne Gaines Crenshaw, both of Youngstown; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nephews, nieces, cousins, family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; niece, Peggy Delores Gaines; sisters, Peggy Ann Gaines, Barbara Jean Gaines Eiland, Pamela Denise Gaines and Sheree Gaines Olds; and brothers, Freddie C. Gaines and Larry Edward Gaines.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 9, 2026, with viewing one hour prior at 10 a.m., at Mount Zion Baptist Church, 827 Wilson Ave., Youngstown. The Rev. Jack Pettis is the pastor.
