Joseph M. Pazillo 1932-2026

McDONALD — Joseph M. Pazillo, 93, a devoted husband, father and grandfather, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2026, at Hospice House in Poland.

Born Sept. 10, 1932, in Girard, the son of Andy and Mary Ross Pazillo, Joseph lived a life marked by service, community involvement and cherished family moments.

He graduated from Youngstown State University with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. He went on to work as an accountant for Republic Steel for 20 years, then moved on to Kent State’s accounting department for 15 years.

Joseph served his country in the United States Navy, where he was honorably discharged.

Outside of his professional life, Joseph found joy in a variety of interests, particularly golfing, music and long walks on Fort Myers Beach, where he enjoyed smoking his cigars. He was an avid blackjack player, relishing the thrills that the game brought alongside cherished time with family and friends.

A member of St. Rose Church, Joseph took pride in his faith and community. His contributions included serving as past president of the church choir and assisting with church funerals as an altar server, demonstrating his dedication to the church and its congregation. His altruistic spirit extended beyond the church; he volunteered to read at the hospital and offered his time to read to the blind, embodying compassion and kindness throughout his life.

Joseph is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara Carlson Pazillo; his sons, Michael Pazillo of Calabash, North Carolina, and Richard (Virginia) Pazillo of Girard; his daughter, Pamela (Bill) O’Connell of Rochester, New York; grandchildren, Danielle Pazillo (fiancee Joey Cavalier), Ryan (Claire) O’Connell and Ian (Ally) O’Connell; and great-grandchildren Emma and Kora O’Connell.

He was preceded in death by eight siblings and by his daughter-in-law, Linda, whose memories he carried with him throughout his life.

Joseph’s legacy continues through the love and memories shared by his family and friends, who will forever treasure the time they had with him.

Visitation will be 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2026, at Blackstone Funeral Home, 672 Churchill Road, Girard, OH 44420, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. at St. Rose Church, 48 Main St., Girard, OH 44420.

Joseph’s life, filled with love, laughter and commitment, will be honored and remembered by all who knew him.
