Joseph B. Baker 1927-2025

NORTH LIMA — Joseph B. Baker, 98, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Dec. 28, 2025, at Hospice of the Valley Hospice House.

Born Oct. 9, 1927, in Youngstown, Joseph was a son of the late Michael and Anna Dill Baker.

On Nov. 20, 1947, he married the love of his life, the former Bronica R. Kolmacic. Together they shared 75 beautiful years of marriage. Joseph and Bronica have been lovingly reunited following her passing on Oct. 24, 2023.

Joseph proudly served his country in the United States Army. He dedicated several years as a cranesman for Youngstown Sheet and Tube. He was a faithful member of Christ Our Savior Parish-St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church in Struthers and also was a member of Steelworkers Union Local 2163.

From a young age, Joseph enjoyed working on cars, a passion that later evolved into tinkering with lawn mowers and small engine repairs. He also was an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians and the Cleveland Browns, always cheering on his favorite teams.

Joseph is survived by his son, Joel M. (Mary) Baker of North Lima.

In addition to his parents and beloved wife, Joseph was preceded in death by his siblings, Raymond Baker, Margaret Hanuschak, Ethel Martin, Eleanor Naymick and Helen Pachuta.

A memorial Mass will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2026, at Christ Our Savior Parish-St. Nicholas Catholic Church, 764 Fifth St., Struthers, with Father Edward Noga officiating.

Joseph will be laid to rest beside his wife in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Cemetery.
