John G. Rogers III 1950-2026

BOARDMAN — John George Rogers III, 76, known as “Jack,” passed away peacefully on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2026, at Hospice of the Valley-Hospice House, surrounded by his loving family.

Jack was born Jan. 17, 1950, in Youngstown, a son of John G. Rogers II and Margaret J. Lightbody Rogers. He was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and a lifelong resident of the Mahoning Valley.

In his younger years, Jack worked in the local steel mills. Following the closure of the mills, he went on to work as a produce manager for Rulli Brothers in Boardman for several years and later served as a bus driver for Canfield Local Schools. Along with his brothers, Jack was also a part owner of Stadium Sports Bar.

Jack was a member of the former Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church on Southern Boulevard in Youngstown. He was an avid football fan and dedicated many years to coaching youth football, leaving a lasting impact on the young athletes he mentored.

Jack had a lifelong love for dogs. In his later years, he found great joy in landscaping his yard and gardening, often sharing the produce he grew with friends and neighbors.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald Rogers and Richard Rogers, and two sisters, Judy Rogers and Debbie Rogers.

He is survived by his brother, Thomas (Maria) Rogers of Austintown; eight nieces and nephews; five great-nieces and great-nephews; and his best friend, Sam Giampetro of Boardman.

Per Jack’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or services.

The family requests that material tributes be made in Jack’s memory to Animal Charity Humane Society, 8469 Southern Blvd., Boardman, OH 44512.
