John E. Lopatta 1953-2026
BOARDMAN — John Edward Lopatta, 72, left this world peacefully on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2026.
He was born April 25, 1953, in Youngstown.
A proud graduate of Boardman High School, John dedicated his life to his work at Falcon Foundry in Lowellville.
John was a spiritual anchor for many as a member of St. Dominic Church, where he found solace and connection with his faith and community. Outside of work and faith, John had an undeniable passion for cars. He spent countless hours both fixing and buying vehicles, often immersing himself in the automotive world at car shows and the Hot Rod Super Nats in Canfield. He was also an avid fan of the 49ers.
John is survived by his two brothers, Jim (Michele) Lopatta and Bob (Nancy) Lopatta; and sister-in-law, Joyce Lopatta; along with many nieces, nephews and friends who will remember him fondly.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Mary Louise Finnegan Lopatta; brother, Bill Lopatta; his twin sister at birth, Patty, and infant sister at birth, Deborah.
In celebration of John’s life, a Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14 at St. Dominic Church.
Professional arrangements are being handled by Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel.
