Janet L. Walston 1937-2026
CANFIELD — Janet Lynne Willis Walston, 88, passed away peacefully Thursday, Jan. 8, 2026, at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital.
Janet was born July 10, 1937, in Republic, Pa., the daughter of Edward and Margaret Evans Fowler. She was a 1955 graduate of John Marshall High School and continued her education at Ohio University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in special education in 1959.
A woman of deep faith and service, Janet was actively involved in Wickliffe Presbyterian Church. She served as an elder and was the founder and director of TLCC. Her commitment to helping others extended into the community through her volunteer work with Meals on Wheels and the Salvation Army.
Janet enjoyed gardening, cooking, traveling, shopping and playing bridge with her friends. Above all else, she cherished time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren, who brought her immense joy and pride.
Janet was preceded in death by her first husband, George E. Willis, whom she married Nov. 23, 1963, and who passed away Dec. 8, 1984; and by her second husband, Gilbert S. Walston, whom she married July 27, 1987, and who passed away July 21, 1999. She was also preceded in death by her parents and by her brother, William Fowler.
She is survived by her children, Jonathan E. Willis, Janelle L. (Richard) Truslow and Clark E. (Michele) Willis; her stepchildren, Gilbert S. (Maria) Walston and Denice M. (Ted) Day; her grandchildren, Katie Walston, Neil Truslow, Jordan Willis, Miranda Truslow, Jaime Willis, Gregory Walston, and Hannah and Haley Tokich; and her brother, Edward (Carol) Fowler.
A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 16, Wickliffe Presbyterian Church, 45 Idlewood Road, Austintown, OH 44515.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Easter Seal Foundation, 299 Edwards St., Youngstown, OH 44502.
