Jack D. Herring 1931-2026
BOARDMAN — Jack D. Herring, 94, of Briarfield Place, passed away early Monday morning, Jan. 11, 2026, at his residence.
Jack was born Sept. 22, 1931, in Oakland, Illinois, a son of the late Jerome and Alice Davis Herring.
He came to this area in 1977. He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, serving in Korea during the Korean War.
Jack was employed as a district manager for S.C. Johnson & Company, retiring in 1986 after 30 years of service.
He was a member of Sulgrave Masonic Lodge No. 696, F&AM. An Ohio sports fan, Jack enjoyed cheering on the Cleveland Browns, Indians and Cavaliers. He was also an avid golfer, but most importantly, he cherished spending time with his family.
His wife, the former Dorothy Teal, whom he married Dec. 28, 1954, passed away Jan. 20, 2023.
Jack is survived by his daughter, Susan (Gary) Gula, and his son, Jack (Cindy Kerns) Herring, both of Boardman; and two grandchildren, Mark (Tanya) Gula and Amy (Ish) Vicens.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Jack was preceded in death by his sister, Imogene (Dick) Wodika, and his half-brother, William (Rose) Herring.
Friends may call noon until 12:45 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15, at Lane Funeral Home, Canfield Chapel, followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m.
