George W. Rapp Jr. 1939-2026
POLAND — George W. Rapp Jr., 86, passed away peacefully shortly after midnight, Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026.
George was born Nov. 8, 1939, in Jersey City, New Jersey, the son of George W. Sr. and Ethel Marie Eccleston Rapp.
George began his working career with the General Electric Company directly out of high school. Recognizing his strong work ethic, the company promoted him to the position of plant manager, and he eventually climbed the ranks. Through his dedication and leadership, the apparatus repair division flourished at each plant that he managed. He was transferred many times to turn around underperforming plants and his assignments took him and his family to Baltimore twice, Charlotte and Sacramento.
In 1988, he left GE to purchase one of their apparatus repair facilities in Youngstown. The business proved successful and remains family-owned to this day.
George was a member of the New Jersey National Guard and a Mason. He was a longtime member of the Lake Club, where he enjoyed playing golf with his F-Troop friends and bocce. He also played bocce at St. Anthony’s and was in bowling leagues at Holiday Bowl. He also very much enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports over the years.
George will lovingly be remembered by his wife of 63 years, Patricia A. Iarussi, whom he married on Oct. 21, 1962; his three sons, Christopher (Kim) Rapp, Eric (Lisa) Rapp and Stephen (Heather) Rapp; seven grandchildren; extended family; and many friends.
Per George’s wishes, there will be no services.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave., Boardman.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made in George’s name to Tunnel to Towers, t2t.org/donate.
Family and friends are encouraged to offer prayers for the family and support by visiting the Book of Memories at www.rossifunerals.com.
