Elmer DePiero 1937-2026

COLUMBIANA — Elmer DePiero, 88, of The Inn at Old Saybrook, formerly of Canfield, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, Jan. 24, 2026.

Elmer was born July 3, 1937, in Youngstown, a son of the late Joseph and Pauline Cellio DePiero. After the loss of his parents when he was 14, Elmer was lovingly cared for by his extended family, who remained an important part of his life.

A proud veteran of the United States Army, Elmer was known as a quiet gentleman and a man of excellence. He was a successful antique dealer and previously owned an autobody shop on Mahoning Avenue.

Elmer had a lifelong passion for classic automobiles and owned and restored several over the years. He was also a generous philanthropist who gave back to his community in meaningful ways. Elmer leaves behind his family of cousins, who will dearly miss him.

The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful caregivers at The Inn at Old Saybrook for their exceptional love and care. Special thanks are also extended to Patriot Hospice for their compassion and support.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that material tributes be made in Elmer’s memory to the Salvation Army of Youngstown.

Friends may call 10 to 10:45 a.m. Friday, Jan. 30, at Lane Funeral Home, Canfield Chapel, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m.
