Edward John Stein 1938-2026

Born Oct. 27, 1938, in Youngstown, he was the son of the late Virgil and Mildred Cukec Stein. Ed lived a life filled with love, hard work and a deep sense of purpose.

Ed was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps. After his service, he took up the trade of toolmaking, dedicating over three decades of his life to the automobile manufacturing industry at the General Motors Lordstown Plant.

Ed’s life was one of simplicity and fulfillment — a life filled with laughter, the love of family and afternoon projects tinkering in the garage. Whether sharing stories of his Marine Corps days or lending a hand to his neighbors, Ed’s easygoing demeanor and genuine nature will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his successful career, Ed cherished his family above all.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Helen Stein, whom he married May 4, 1963; his daughter, Cheryl (Bob) Evans; and his son, Edward (Carolyn) Stein Jr., both of Austintown.

Edward was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Mildred Stein.

A private celebration of Ed’s life was held, where family gathered to honor him and share cherished memories.
